		<title>Immigration Needs Liberty, not Government Power</title>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>French economist, statesman, and author of <em>The Law</em>, Frederic Bastiat, stated that if people and goods are not allowed to freely cross borders, soldiers will.  With the advent of the administration’s authorization of quartering guard units on the Mexican-American border and many individuals’ desire to station even more, the truth of Bastiat is dangerously close at hand.  More troops and additional building of walls on the border will beget more violence, not less, just like the Berlin Wall did between East and West Germany. </p>
<p>Much of the violence and crime associated with immigration is a result of the government’s war on drugs.  The solution is to end the government’s war on drugs. </p>
<p>Much of the concern over immigrants being provided government welfare is a result of the government’s war on poverty, which created the need for all of the government welfare programs, which in turn has created the antagonism between Americans over who ought to receive the government benefits.  The solution is to end the government’s war on poverty. </p>
<p>Mass immigration is not necessarily negative.  America had mass immigration in the late 19<sup>th</sup> and early 20<sup>th</sup> centuries and it did not negatively impact the country.  The difference between then and now is that back then there was no Social Security, Medicare, or government welfare.  There was very little government spending, economic regulation, and very few trade restrictions.  There was also no central bank, national service, or large military industrial complex.  It was also relatively easy to immigrate, therefore “sneaking in” was non-existent.</p>
<p>Terrorists and other criminals crossing an international border are no different than them crossing a state border.  Laws already exist that make murder, rape, theft, and fraud criminal activity.  Law enforcement officials are to use their resources to combat that activity as opposed to peaceful activity.</p>
<p>Demanding personal identification to government officials is more reflective of a police state than a free society.  Individuals are not cattle to be tagged and identified.  They are not property of the state.  Individuals are free human beings that have the right to life, liberty, and to pursue happiness without infringing upon the right of others to do the same.  The demand for government to perpetrate war on people must end. </p>
<p>To finance all of these government wars, additional government programs such as the Federal Reserve System and the income tax were established.  The solution to ending the financing of all of the American government’s wars is to eliminate both the Federal Reserve System and the income tax.</p>
<p>War brings total deprivation to people, not economic growth.  The solution to war is not more war.  The solution to war is peace.  The founders of the United States understood that peace can only be achieved when government power is restrained.  They created the United States Constitution putting government power in a lock box and assigning only very limited duties to its existence.  Many individuals though, have found a way to unlock the lock box and now demand government to solve every issue that arises from immigration to the current oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, all of which were created by government intervention in the first place. </p>
<p>The United States Constitution does not authorize government to finance individuals or businesses.  It does not authorize government to provide personal welfare for anyone, even American citizens.  Immigration is not even mentioned in the Constitution; hence it is not the government’s responsibility to control immigration. </p>
<p>Government power is the antithesis of individual freedom.  Individuals must concentrate on reducing, not increasing, the amount of government in their lives.  To do this, individuals must honor the Constitution and see to it that it is preserved.  To do that will require the elimination of the government’s war on drugs, war on poverty, war on immigrants, war on people in general, and the Federal Reserve System and income tax.  Instead of trying to find ways for government to control individuals, invoking the United States Constitution will see the immigration issue, health care issue, and all of the other issues that government creates be reduced immensely or even go away. </p>
<p>The Constitution exists to protect individuals from government, not to use government force on individuals.  Government force, when not used in adherence to the Constitution, creates nothing but an environment where animosity and violence exist.  As George Washington so aptly observed, government is like fire, a dangerous servant and a fearful master.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Daniel Webster once stated, “Hold on, my friends, to the Constitution and the republic for which it stands.  Miracles do not cluster, and what has happened once in 6,000 years, may not happen again.  Hold on to the Constitution, for if the American Constitution should fail, there will be anarchy throughout the world.”</p>
<p>The goal of the Articles of Freedom is to “hang on to the Constitution” as Mr. Webster so apply states.</p>
<p>Like the founders who gathered in Philadelphia in the fall of 1774 to write letters and argue their case for individual liberty before the king of England, 116 ordinary, non-aligned citizens from all walks of life across America representing 48 of the 50 states met in St. Charles, Illinois outside of Chicago from November 11 to November 22, 2009 to draft the Articles of Freedom in order to preserve the United States Constitution so that a tyranny does not devolve upon America.</p>
<p>The Articles of Freedom address fourteen major violations of the United States Constitution by United States federal and state government officials among which include the constitutionally unauthorized meddling in the internal affairs of other countries, undeclared wars, corporate welfare, fiat currency, the emitting of bills of credit through and under the auspices of the Federal Reserve System, the accumulation of government  debt, the absence of a well-regulated militia and the enforcement of federal gun control laws, the taking of private property by government officials for private purposes, the provision of health care and ordering individuals to purchase a product, and money bills originating in the U.S. Senate.</p>
<p>The liberty-minded individuals of Continental Congress 2009 framed the Articles of Freedom to provide remedial instructions to all federal and state government officials to abide by their oath of office to preserve, protect, and defend the United States Constitution and return the United States to a republic for which it was established.</p>
<p>The Articles of Freedom are completed.  Groups of individuals gathering in the capital cities of all fifty states will present the sixty-five page document to each state’s U.S. senator, member of the U.S. House of Representatives, governor, and leader of the state legislature.  The Articles of Freedom will be delivered on Monday, April 19, 2010, the 235<sup>th</sup> anniversary of the start of the American revolution precisely at 9 am Hawaii Standard Time, 11 am Alaska Daylight Time, 12 noon Pacific Daylight and Mountain Standard Time, 1 pm Mountain Daylight Time, 2 pm Central Daylight Time, and 3 pm Eastern Daylight Time.</p>
<p>The Articles of Freedom asks all Americans to take the time to read the Articles of Freedom, learn about the Constitution, and take a pledge to stand with a goodly number of millions of people who are entitled to their liberty to arise to restore and maintain the Constitution of the United States of America, and if necessary, participate in coordinated, non-violent, legal, and constitutional civic actions to stop the violations of the greatest document ever struck by the hand of mankind.</p>
<p>The Articles of Freedom are located at <a href="http://WWW.ARTICLESOFFREEDOM.US">www.articlesoffreedom.us</a>.  It is well worth the read.  It most certainly is well worth the effort for which it asks, to hang on to the Constitution of the United States.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Today marks the two hundred and twenty-second anniversary of the signing of the greatest peace document ever struck by the hand of mankind.  The United States Constitution promotes peace through its restraint of government violence.  History shows that government power through the hands of officials, elected or otherwise, results in the use of force upon individuals thereby making peace very hard to achieve.</p>
<p>The framers of the United States Constitution understood the nature of government; that government power is the greatest threat to all of mankind.  History shows that power in the hands of a few, or many, results in death, destruction, and the loss of individual liberty.  Examples abound from Europe, to Asia, to America.  It matters not the type of government in question.  Power given to individuals has the natural tendency to devolve into tyranny.</p>
<p>The beauty of the United States Constitution and the gift given to all of mankind by its framers is how this remarkable document keeps the power of government officials in check.  Not only is power disseminated between three branches of government in order that tyranny can be kept at bay, but each of these three branches is given an extremely limited amount to do.  There are only eighteen responsibilities given to the congress, only six given to the president, and there are only eleven types of cases that the United States Supreme Court may hear in which it can get itself involved.  Nowhere in the United States Constitution does it allow for government officials to provide health care.  Nowhere in the United States Constitution does it allow for government officials to provide jobs for individuals. Nowhere in the United States Constitution does it allow for government officials to bail out or even loan money to businesses.  The general welfare does not mean specific welfare.</p>
<p>Nowhere in the United States Constitution does it allow government officials to restrict the ownership of firearms, restrict speech, or allow government officials to arbitrarily, without a warrant, rummage through an individual&#8217;s personal belongings.</p>
<p>Government by its nature is a war machine.  As the founders understood, and President George Washington so eloquently stated, &#8220;Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force!  Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.&#8221;  The framers knew that if not contained, like fire, government officials would spread their violence throughout society as has been done throughout history.</p>
<p>To prevent violence and to promote peace, the framers structured a society whereby government power in the hands of a few is restrained allowing the minimum amount of violence to take place.</p>
<p>Government has no other means to accomplish any goal, but through the use of force.  Taxes, the only source of revenue for government to operate, are forced from the individual.  There is no choice in the matter, at least not without severe repercussions.  A free market, individual liberty, on the other hand, promotes peace because individuals are allowed to make their own choice about what they do with their money.  Peace exists in such an environment because no one is forced by a government official to make a choice.  This does not necessarily mean any threats, extortion, or criminal activity occurs.  It is just that government force is restricted to defending the individual rights of everyone, not used to interfere or take those rights away.</p>
<p>For health care to be provided by government, government force is used to provide for it.  Government officials must take money, through force, from individuals to pay for such an activity.  Free individuals, on the other hand, must persuade others to provide health care; hence, the reason for the United States Constitution resulting in the promotion of peace and keeping the power of government officials in check.</p>
<p>Mankind is truly fortunate to have such a document in place.  All that is needed is to see to it that those that are given power follow its precepts.  Otherwise, we the people must peacefully remove them from such power.  If we the people do not exercise our obligation and maintain a vigilance over those to whom we grant power, then less peace and more violence will prevail.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On September 5, 1774 fifty-five individuals from twelve of the thirteen colonies met at what is now called Independence Hall in Philadelphia.  The meeting is known as the First Continental Congress.  These individuals met for almost a full two months through the end of October, 1774.  The Congress was headed up by Mr. Peyton Randolph of Virginia.</p>
<p>The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and decide what to do about the extraordinary activities of the King of England.  The monarch was taxing the colonies to pay for all of the wars that had gone on in the past and that were taking place at the time.  There was never any discussion of separating from England.  As a matter of fact most did not want any separation at all.  These individuals just wanted the king to stop his tyrannical ways and leave them alone to make a living, support their families, and to live in peace.</p>
<p>The individuals who met were trying to come up with ideas on how to get King George III to see their point of view and to right the wrongs that were being thrown upon the individuals living in the colonies.  Attending this congress included George Washington, Sam Adams, John Adams, Patrick Henry, Richard Henry Lee, John Jay, and John Dickinson.  They decided that letters to King George expressing their grievances about his very actions was how they were going to proceed.  They also decided that they would meet again in May, 1775 at a Second Continental Congress to evaluate the progress, if any, that was made in their attempts to change the ways of King George.</p>
<p>By the time the colony representatives met in May, 1775, &#8220;the shot heard ‘round the world&#8221; had already made its day in Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts signaling the start of the American Revolution.  The Second Continental Congress, chaired this time by John Hancock and where all thirteen colonies were represented, became a debate on whether or not to separate from England.  The result of the Congress was the Declaration of Independence one year later and a total commitment to the separation putting everyone&#8217;s lives, fortunes, and sacred honor on the line.</p>
<p>Two hundred thirty five years later, a third continental congress, headed up by Mr. Bob Schultz of New York and consisting of 153 individuals and an undetermined number of supporters and observers from all 50 states and Washington, D.C. will meet on November 8, 2009 in St. Charles, Illinois for two weeks.  The purpose is to come up with ideas on how best to restore the American republic to the constitutional form that was established by those that met at the first and second continental congresses.</p>
<p>American government officials have long ago departed from any adherence to the United States Constitution by which they are to govern.  The fact that the president can now send American military personnel to any location on the planet without a declaration of war by congress, money is now printed to pay for government expenditures, and congress appropriates money for a vast number of activities that it has no authority given to it by the Constitution are but a trifling sample of how far American government officials have been allowed to depart from the precepts of the document by which they are to follow.</p>
<p>The assembly of this continental congress is simply a gathering of individuals, like those of 1774-1775 to discuss what can be done to right the wrongs that have been made by many of those occupying the presidency, congress, and judicial system over the last century violating their oaths of office and feathering their own nests at the expense of everyone else.</p>

<p>Hopefully, the congress will be successful in helping the country return to its constitutional form.  If not, tyranny may very well be the order of the day for America.</p>

<p>The Declaration of Independence states that all human beings have the inalienable right to pursue happiness.  It does not say that individuals have a right to happiness, just the right to seek it out however the individual defines happiness.  The Declaration of Independence also states that the only purpose for the existence of government is to make sure all individuals have this right secured, i.e. no one initiates force on another interfering with their right to pursue happiness.</p>
<p>What all this means is that individuals do not need any permission from their government to pursue their happiness.  They may need permission from other individuals or private businesses, but individuals do not need permission from their government.  One just cannot go into McDonald&#8217;s and grab themselves a hamburger. The individual must secure permission from McDonald&#8217;s by giving McDonald&#8217;s money in order to obtain the desired hamburger.  Likewise, one cannot just go to his neighbor and take the neighbor&#8217;s calculator.  The individual must secure permission from the neighbor to obtain the desired calculator.  In neither case is the individual required to secure permission from a government official.</p>
<p>The reality in which the individual finds himself today is something quite different.  Today, the individual must secure permission from government in order to go into business, get a job, build a house, buy and keep property, and get married among many other activities.  As a matter of fact, there really is not much that an individual can do today without having to first obtain permission from a government official.</p>
<p>Although the individual is free to choose to purchase a hamburger from McDonald&#8217;s, Burger King, and  a slew of other sources, for the individual to buy the hamburger from McDonald&#8217;sor others, McDonald&#8217;s had to first receive permission from government officials to offer the hamburger to the public in the first place.  Had it not received that permission, the individual would never have been able to pursue his happiness through the purchase of a McDonald&#8217;s hamburger.  One can apply this same scenario to any other business activity.</p>
<p>Individuals must even obtain permission from government to own property.  Private property rights really do not exist.</p>
<p>However, the greatest permission slip that must be obtained by the individual from his government takes place every year on April 15.  This is the day when the individual must receive permission from his government to keep whatever portion of the income deemed appropriate by government officials that is earned by the individual.</p>
<p>We the people must recognize that today&#8217;s reality is not what is described in the Declaration of Independence.  What exists today is not freedom.  It is enslavement.  &#8220;None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who think they are free.&#8221;</p>
<p>At least the following three activities must occur if America is to return to the tenants of the Declaration of Independence and individual liberty.  One, the Federal Reserve System and the income tax must both be abolished.  Government officials must be restricted from forcefully taking an individual&#8217;s income indirectly through inflation, which is caused by the Federal Reserve System and excessive government spending, and directly through the forceful extraction of the individual&#8217;s income through the income tax.  By defunding government the individual will then be able to keep all of his income to decide for himself how that money ought to be spent in his inalienable right to pursue his happiness.  Two, we the people must educate ourselves in the ideas of liberty learning and understanding the principles outlined in the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution.  Doing so will help recognize when government officials overstep their authority granted to them.  Finally, we the people must stop requesting, begging, demanding, and accepting any government funding not authorized by the United States Constitution.  Government has no money to give anyone except money that has already been taken from the individual in the first place.  Government does not create wealth.  Government redistributes the wealth created by the individual.  By not requesting, begging, demanding, and accepting government funding individuals increase their ability to exercise their inalienable right to pursue happiness.</p>
<p>Individual liberty means the individual is free from having to obtain permission from his government to seek out his happiness.  The price of individual liberty is eternal vigilance on the part of the individual to be sure that government officials do not interfere with the peaceful life of the individual; a small price to pay to avoid tyranny.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In 1919 a German citizen purchased a loaf of bread for 26 pfennigs.  Just four years later in November, 1923 that same loaf of bread cost the German citizen 80 billion marks.  In the former Yugoslavia between October, 1993 and January, 1995 the cost of living jumped five quadrillion percent.  Five quadrillion is a five with fifteen zeros after it.  In November, 2008 Zimbabwe&#8217;s annual inflation rate was put at approximately 80 billion percent.  The common elements shared by all three of these examples of hyperinflation and the many others strewn throughout history include the drying up of credit and the deficit spending of the central government financed by the printing of money by the central banking authority resulting in tyranny. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>Inflation is the increase in the supply of money in circulation.  To inflate means to blow up and in economic terms it means the blowing up or expansion of the money supply.  One of the many basic natural laws of economics is that as the supply of any commodity increases the value of each individual unit of that commodity decreases.  Money is nothing more than a very specialized commodity that is universally accepted in the trade of goods and services. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>Money is not wealth.  If it were, then all one would have to do to become wealthy would be to create any amount of money he desired or needed.  If everyone did that, there would be nothing to consume because all of the production of goods and services would cease and whatever did exist would be consumed.  It is the reason why counterfeiting is illegal.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Counterfeiting steals value from others who already hold money.  If the power to create money is given to a central authority, such as the Federal Reserve System, the end result is no less the same.  The more money the Federal Reserve creates in order to pay for the deficit spending government officials create through all of the monetary bailouts of businesses, banks, financial institutions, and all of the current and proposed business stimulus packages being passed by congress, the more prices of everything increase.  Actually, the price level really does not increase.  Rather, it is the value of the money that decreases.  To prove the point a gallon of gasoline still costs the same silver quarter it did back in the 1950&#8242;s because the value of that same silver quarter in today&#8217;s dollars is about $2.22, the approximate price of a gallon of gasoline today. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>Paper is a very poor commodity to be used as money since it can be copied very easily.  Gold and silver throughout history are the commodities that have served best to be used as money because of their rarity, the difficulty of getting them out of the ground, and the fact that they literally last forever.  They are elements of the earth. </p>
<p>Every paper currency in history has seen its eventual demise once government officials are given the power to create paper money to pay for the expenses of government since there is never any end to the amount of money government officials will spend.  Whether hyperinflation comes to America to the extent it did in the examples above is anyone&#8217;s guess.  However, there is currently no indication by any government official, including the President of the United States, his cabinet, and many senators and representatives in congress that the printing of money to pay for the government deficits that are multiplying daily will stop. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>As a result of the continuous occurring bailouts, government officials estimate that the deficit for the current fiscal year ending September 30, 2009, could reach the tune of 1 to 2 trillion dollars.  This is not the budget that is being discussed; it is the difference between the revenues and expenses of the budget.  $1 trillion is the equivalent of spending approximately $34 million a year for 30,000 years, a very incomprehensible sum.   </p>
<p> </p>
<p>The founders of America experienced hyperinflation and the collapse of the Continental dollar.  They understood very well the detriments of using paper money by government officials to pay for government expenditures.  Their experience led them to write into the United States Constitution that under no circumstances could paper money (bills of credit) ever be used in the payment of debts; only gold and silver, real commodity money, could be used for that purpose. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>Contrary to many individuals, especially those elected to office, the United States Constitution is not an anachronism and has many natural law principles imbedded in it not the least of which is the elimination of paper money (bills of credit).  The United States Constitution has not been followed by elected officials for a very long time. However, if America is to get off the hyperinflation train and avoid tyranny, America must return to her guiding document, the United States Constitution.  </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="bodytext">Mayer Amschel Rothschild, a very influential banker of the 18th Century, made the comment, &#8220;Let me issue and control a nation&#8217;s money and I care not who writes the laws.&#8221; That observation could not be more apropos for today&#8217;s economic climate.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">In 1913 congress relinquished its constitutional authority of control over the money supply to the independent and private organization of the Federal Reserve System. Since then the world has experienced the Great Depression and is experiencing the current financial crisis. There is no oversight of the Federal Reserve System and it is unlimited in its capability to issue money resulting in today&#8217;s financial malaise and the one of the 1930&#8242;s.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">Because of the massive intervention in the marketplace supported by Franklin Delano Roosevelt and other government officials with all of the public work projects, Social Security, and the increased amount of controls placed upon financial institutions the great depression of the 1930&#8242;s was allowed to be extended for ten or so years instead of lasting only one or two years. &#8220;America&#8217;s Great Depression,&#8221; written by Murray Rothbard, substantiates why the 1930&#8242;s depression lasted as long as it did.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">It appears today&#8217;s leaders in America do not learn anything from history. They advocate more interventions, the very activity that has caused the crisis America finds herself in today. The president, secretary of the treasury, the Federal Reserve board chairman, and many others say that if nothing is done an economic catastrophe will take place that will hurt many individuals financially. That may be true, but it is because of the very interventions that all of these leaders have imposed that has caused the financial crisis to begin with. Now, they want more.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">The seeds of an economic correction are sewn for the same reason that an individual experiences a hangover on Saturday morning after drinking all Friday night. The correction is merely a cleansing of the economic body in order for it to return to &#8220;normal&#8221; just like the human body does during the hangover. The only question the individual must answer is how severe the hangover is going to be. If he stops drinking early enough, the severity will be reduced. However, if he continues to consume alcohol, the severity will increase proportionately. Once the drinking starts, though, the individual cannot prevent the onslaught of the resulting hangover. Once the money spigots are turned on, the ensuing financial correction takes place. It can be postponed, but at the cost of increased severity. The more money injected into the system by the Federal Reserve, the greater the severity of the depression. This is what took place in the 1920&#8242;s.</p>
<p class="bodytext">The intervention proposal before congress has the same effect. If $700 billion is injected into the system, the greater the severity of the depression to the extent that the entire money system can break down which will severely impact everyone on the planet instead of just a few large financial institutions, banks, and insurance companies.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">The bailout program, though, is really nothing more than the nationalization of the financial system of the United States by the United States federal government. As Lord Acton, an English historian, said so long ago, &#8220;All power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">The bottom line is that the federal government has no money with which to do what American leaders so desire. The United States federal government does not even have one dollar to spend let alone 700 billion of them. The Federal Reserve is currently infusing dollars into the monetary system that destroys the value of the American currency making business operations near to impossible to conduct.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">In 1933 when Franklin Roosevelt took office one of his first priorities was to require Americans to turn in all of their gold (money) in exchange for $20.67, and Americans, as dutiful and patriotic as they were, did just that. Franklin Roosevelt and other American leaders then increased the price of gold to $35 per ounce devaluing the dollar and in effect took more control over the life of the individual.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">Today, the Federal Reserve &#8220;prints&#8221; money to bailout businesses, shore up financial accounts, and cover increased government expenditures. Americans should not be surprised, then, when government leaders come along one day and require Americans to accept one new dollar for every ten, twenty, or whatever the exchange rate will be of the old thereby in effect devaluing the currency again.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">Lord Acton and Mayer Rothschild were extremely observant. The current economic crisis is all about the absolute control of the individual by government officials.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="bodytext">When the United States Constitution was signed on this date 221 years ago it marked a real change in the relationship between government officials and the citizenry. For most of history citizens were ruled by rulers. Now for the first time, the rulers were to be ruled.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">The prime minister of England, William E. Gladstone, later remarked about the United States Constitution that, &#8220;It is the greatest piece of work ever struck off at a given time by the brain and purpose of man.&#8221;</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">The Constitution is certainly not a perfect document for it did allow slavery to exist, and it continues to allow for slavery through the application of the income tax. The United States Constitution, though, continues to have value if only it is allowed to be implemented.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">The United States Constitution is the idea of putting government power in its rightful place and recognizing that all power in life ultimately resides in the individual. The document prevents the president from arbitrarily deciding to put American military personnel in harms way. It prevents government officials from forcefully taking from individuals and giving to others both internationally, such as Georgia and all other foreign aid, and domestically, such as bailing out businesses like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and now probably Lehman Brothers. It prevents government officials from spending money on activities such as education, health care, job creation, and the myriad of other government programs that have racked up an enormous debt that strains the citizenry&#8217;s ability to pay.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">The United States Constitution prevents government officials from spying on individuals unless permission is granted from a court of law. It prevents government officials from eliminating habeas corpus, establishing secret tribunals and prisons as provided for in the Patriot Act, Military Commissions Act, and FISA legislation. It prevents the president of the United States from being an emperor because the president must get approval from congress for all actions taken. The commander-in-chief position the president holds only means that he is the highest ranking military officer, who is a civilian by intent. Likewise, congress, under the United States Constitution, is prevented from just giving its authority to declare war and financially support the troops to the president.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">Sadly, today, the vast majority of individuals in congress, the two major candidates for president of the United States, and many of America&#8217;s past presidents and members of congress not only have given and give lip service to the Constitution, but they do not even discuss in their campaigns the ideas found in the Constitution.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">Whoever takes the oath of office January 20, 2009 as the country&#8217;s next president will have to make massive changes in the way American government conducts itself if taking that oath has any meaning at all. The president must stop making war without a declaration from congress and congress must stop allowing the president to act in such a way. The president must stop giving all foreign and domestic aid to individuals and congress must stop providing for such activity. Both the president and congress must abolish the Federal Reserve System and cut spending drastically to prevent additional debt from being incurred. The FISA legislation, Military Commissions Act, and the Patriot Act must also be abolished.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">The United States Constitution cannot be construed as just a piece of paper if individual liberty is to survive. The Constitution is the idea that individuals have the right to govern themselves without any interference from anyone, especially government officials. To govern oneself takes a tremendous amount of moral fortitude and respect for others. It is the greatest challenge of mankind. It is much easier to be enslaved.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">We, the posterity the founders referred to in the Preamble of the Constitution, have the responsibility of making self governance and individual liberty work. The Constitution is really only as good as we the people pay honor to it in following its precepts. Otherwise, tyranny is the order of the day which the world has been exposed to the vast majority of time throughout history.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="bodytext">Contrary to Barack Obama&#8217;s statement in accepting the Democratic nomination for President of the United States, America&#8217;s promise is not for government to be compassionate enough to take care of its American citizens by providing health care, education, retirement, and jobs. Government officials, in their capacity as such, cannot be compassionate because they cannot provide any of the foregoing without the use of force.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">As individuals giving of their own assets of their own free will, they can be as compassionate as they desire, but as government officials it is impossible. The reason is that they only have one method to obtain the assets necessary to give to others and that is through taxation, the forceful extraction of assets from one to give to another. Very few elected officials make mention that they would be willing to voluntarily give of their own assets. They only discuss the use of government funds to help others. The method of helping others as Mr. Obama suggests is called socialism, which totally contradicts the real promise of America.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">The real promise of America is that every individual, no matter religious upbringing, ethnicity, or gender, has the inalienable right to pursue his or her definition of happiness free from any government interference so long as each individual respects the right of others to do the same. Only in an environment of individual liberty and freedom can the individual and his family pursue their dreams as they define them. Government officials do not have the ability to know what those dreams are and therefore have not the capacity to fulfill them nor do they have the capacity, even if they could, to fulfill them peacefully.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">As Mr. Obama stated in his speech, America is at a defining moment in history where she is at war, her economy is in turmoil, more Americans are out of work, and more are working harder for less. The challenges Americans face are monumental, but not impossible to overcome. The absolute necessary ingredient, though, to achieve success and overcome all of these and many more obstacles is to make sure all Americans possess the freedom to try and overcome them.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">In order for freedom and individual liberty to reign, government officials must be kept from meddling in the lives of the citizenry. This is where the United States Constitution comes into play. The Constitution restricts government officials from interfering in the lives of American citizens. What this translates into is the elimination of the income tax, the Federal Reserve System, and the myriad of rules and regulations dictating to individuals how to live their lives.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">The reason many are on the brink of losing their home is because of the failed government policies that elected officials want continued. The reason more individuals are hitting their maximum debt limits and cannot afford tuition payments for schooling is because of the amount of government spending currently taking place that must be provided for through taxation. Tax cuts are great and every politician and elected government official promises them. However, funding all government spending must come from somewhere and taxing the rich does not even come close to matching the additional spending.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">The federal government currently spends over $3 trillion every year which translates into $10,000 of tax revenue that must be collected from every single American, even the kids and babies. A family of four must earn at least $40,000 annually just to pay for all federal government expenditures. Since the federal government does not come anywhere close to taking that much money from its citizens, it prints the money through the Federal Reserve System reducing the value of the American currency geometrically thereby robbing the individual of even more of his hard earned income. It is no wonder why individuals are experiencing difficult economic times.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">Government is not established to provide for any American or anyone else from anywhere. The promise of America is that the individual will be left alone to pursue his dreams. If the individual needs help, he asks family members, friends, his church, synagogue, or mosque, or he produces something that someone needs providing a job for himself and others. In other words contrary to popular belief by established government officials, the market does take care of the masses.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">Government cannot solve America&#8217;s foreign or domestic situations. The best government can do is to make sure that all Americans do not interfere with the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness of others. In other words government is to make sure each human being does not kill, cheat, lie, or do any other type of harm to another.</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
<p class="bodytext">No American government official can ever end America&#8217;s dependence on oil from the Middle East unless he or she promotes substantially less government interference in the oil markets. No president, under the rules of the United States Constitution has the authority to dictate what kind of energy is to be produced, how it is to be produced, how much of it to produce, and for whom to produce, and that goes for every single product or service produced and consumed. Nor is the president allowed to take the country into war without first getting a declaration of war from congress. The heart of the matter is that very few elected officials invoke the United States Constitution because it restricts them in their desire for power over others.</p>
<p class="bodytext">The promise of America is not Mr. Obama, Mr. McCain or any other elected official. The promise of America is individual liberty. Forgetting the promise of America results in chaos and dictatorship. As Mr.Webster warned so long ago, &#8220;Hold on, my friends, to the Constitution and to the republic for which it stands. Miracles do not cluster, and what has happened once in 6000 years, may not happen again. Hold on to the Constitution, for if the American Constitution should fail, there will be anarchy throughout the world.&#8221;</p>
<p class="bodytext"> </p>
